Why you should use a VPN on your iPhone?
One way to ensure your privacy for your online activities is to use a VPN (Virtual Private Network). This makes you anonymous and at the same time prevents your ISP (Internet Service Provider) from recording your browsing history. You will realize one day that you have been bombarded by those advertisers and usually this is because your browsing records have been sold.
Now to set up your VPN, here’s what you can do.
Step 1 : Choose a VPN
- This is something that you don’t just decide straight away. This requires research on what works for you best. You need to do a comparative research. There are a ton of options out there, to name a few that works well with iPhone 12 is the ExpressVPN, IPVanish, SurfShark and CyberGhost.
Step 2 : Install the VPN
- Download the VPN app and install it in your iPhone 12. Log in and follow the instructions until the VPN is downloaded. Once completed, a notification will appear requesting a permission to add a VPN configuration to your phone. Tap ‘Allow’ and the VPN will automatically configured to your phone.
If you wish to manually configure the VPN, follow the steps below;
- Go to Settings > tap General > tap VPN > tap ‘Add VPN Configuration > tap ‘Type’ and Select [check the type of VPN on the VPN website, either IKEv2/IPSec/L2TP] > tap ‘Add VPN Configuration > Enter the VPN Settings Information > Enter your login details > Click ‘Done’ > Tap the status switch to ‘Connected’
Step 3 : Connect/Disconnect the VPN
Once the VPN service is installed and configured, you are totally in control when and how long you want to use the service. It is at your own preference.
Here’s how to activate or deactivate it;
- Go to Settings > tap General > tap VPN > Choose the VPN name > toggle the status switch to either ‘Connected’ or ‘Disconnected’.
That’s how you can keep privacy for your online communications and activities. These days that almost everything is done on the web, security of information is vital.
